Now, it seems that this misfortune is starting to seep towards the company’s biggest moneymaker, its annual Call of Duty franchise. Basically confirming some old rumors, the name of the next title in the series is Call of Duty: Vanguard, and it will be set during World War II. The latest game in the franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, was set in the eponymous Cold War in the early 1980’s.

What is there to be learned from the leak

Going off on the earliest sayings by tons of insiders, Call of Duty: Vanguard would be a successor to the series’ 2017 entry, Call of Duty: WWII. While Call of Duty: WWII focused on the fight against Nazi Germany, Call of Duty: Vanguard was said to be taking a different approach to the war. The latter will instead feature the Pacific front, specifically the fight against the Japanese. This latest leak seems to confirm everything the insiders revealed. Sets of images started to float around Twitter, Imgur, and Reddit of the main artwork to be used by the game, confirming both the title (Call of Duty: Vanguard) and the three editions it is said to come in. Check out one of the tweets for Call of Duty: Vanguard below. https://twitter.com/WarzoneQG/status/1425858518733803524 https://twitter.com/HOPXINS_/status/1425782593027559426 Most of the now deleted images show Call of Duty: Vanguard that will come in three distinct editions: a Standard Edition, a Cross-Gen Bundle and the Ultimate Edition. Judging by its name, the Cross-Gen Bundle confirms that the game will be available on two generations of consoles. The Ultimate Edition sleeve was also part of what was leaked and it showed three characters on the front: Lucas, Polina and Wade; these seem to be the three main leads for the game. The game’s Ultimate Edition will also come with the Open Beta Early Access, now a staple on most of the Call of Duty titles. Insider Tom Henderson also tweeted some pertinent information with regards to the game’s official reveal and release. According to the tweets, Call of Duty: Vanguard will be officially revealed on August 19 and it will be released on November 9.
