Smartphones Replacing the Idea of a PC?
This is a big deal for smartphones which usually cap at 60Hz for gaming. While yes, it is true that the OnePlus 8 Pro has a 120Hz display, we believe they are limiting it to 90Hz for that device for now. For first-person shooters such as Fortnite, higher refresh rate displays truly make the difference here. Of course, it still won’t be a similar experience to the one on PCs but it is up there, for sure. Sadly for OnePlus 7 and 7T series of devices: they will not be supported for this update. Although they did support 90Hz displays, Epic Games has for some reason excluded the. One should also know that the current generation of consoles play the title capped at 60Hz too and for everyday PCs, a 90Hz gameplay for the game isn’t less than extraordinary (with regular specs). So this is a big feat, no doubt. It shows us the great potential these tiny devices possess. One may even think that once developers make apps, especially for mobile devices, these may just replace our home-based computers over time. Just like the iPad is trying to do today.
