The AMD Ryzen 3000 C-Series Mobile processors are reportedly the most powerful graphics available in a Chromebook, and AMD has just started offering new processors for a range of these versatile and lightweight laptops that run on Google Chrome OS. These mobile computing devices are popular among officegoers and college students, and they work optimally with web-based productivity and collaboration tools. Interestingly, AMD is also claiming the new ZEN-based Ryzen Mobile Processors in these Chromebooks also allow Content Creation.
AMD Launches First “ZEN”-based Chromebook Mobile Processors:
AMD is embedding its ZEN-based Ryzen Mobile Processors into Chromebooks. These are no ordinary or low-powered variants either. AMD has developed a total of five new 15W Ryzen and Athlon-branded chips based on Zen and Zen+ architecture for the new Chromebooks. Incidentally, AMD is already a popular choice among Chromebook users owing to the A-Series chips that were powering last year’s Chromebooks.
— Christian Pepito (@AlucardC69) September 22, 2020 AMD is promising its power-efficient 3000 C-Series Mobile Processors enable thinner and lighter Chromebook designs. Moreover, these processors can reportedly offer long battery life as well as the latest connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5. There are two new series of AMD CPUs: Athlon-branded models destined for Chromebooks and AMD Ryzen 3000 C Series Mobile Processors. These chips have a 15W TDP Profile, and hence, can offer some reliable performance.
AMD Athlon and AMD Ryzen 3000 C Series Mobile Processors Specifications, Features:
The AMD Athlon CPUs inside the upcoming Chromebooks reportedly fall under the AMD C-Series. These should be similar in performance to the existing U-series Ryzen and Athlon chips. The entry-level AMD Athlon Silver 3050C features a Zen-based 14nm 2 Core 2 Thread design clocked 2.3 GHz Base Clock with Boost Clock at 3.2Ghz. The CPU is bundled with an AMD Radeon GPU clocked at 1100MHz. The middle-level AMD Athlon Gold 3150C and Ryzen 3 3205C CPUs feature a 2 Core 4 Thread and design with slightly higher clock rates and a more powerful three-core GPU. The top-end AMD CPUs are reportedly based on the 12nm ZEN+ Architecture. The Ryzen 7 3700C and Ryzen 5 3500C are both 4 Core 8 Thread CPUs with high Clock Speeds additional cache and come bundled with 8-10 GPU cores.
— chapuzasinformatico (@elchapuzas) September 22, 2020 With these processors, the new Chromebooks should be reliably fast and responsive. These processors should be ideal for browsing the web, multitasking, or streaming video. AMD claims several improvements. For example, the AMD Ryzen 7 3700C Mobile Processor claims to offer premium performance for Chromebooks, such as:
Up to 251 percent, better graphics performance compared to previous generation AMD ChromebooksUp to 104 percent, faster office productivity performance compared to previous generation AMD ChromebooksUp to 152 percent better photo editing performance than the previous generation AMD Chromebooks
