Apple may just have the answer as we can see from the leak in this tweet below https://twitter.com/jon_prosser/status/1313304868845686785?s=20 According to the tweet Jon Prosser retweeted, a new version of the Apple TV would be coming out at the iPhone 12 event, later this month. According to the tweet from appol leakz, there would also be a gaming controller paired with that (God knows how much premium Apple would charge for that). This would be in line with the cloud gaming trend that has engulfed us ever since the introduction of Google’s Stadia. Now, the difference is, Google has a good lineup of games, even if it is still quite modest, to say the least. But these are actual, console-level games.
The Problem with Apple Arcade
Apple on the other hand continues to push its Apple Arcade and eventually, as shown in the September event, Apple Arcade+. This would be a more premium service but as long as we do not see any major titles, or console-level games, there is no point. As of now, Apple Arcade has some good games to offer but they are tuned to be played on your mobile devices. After all, how much can they really offer? Perhaps Apple has a trump card tucked in its sleeve which it would reveal at the October event alongside the new iPhones and Apple Arcade+.
Update:
Now that we have seen the event pass along, we would like to clarify that the event didn’t host any new product line in the Apple TV series of things. Perhaps the next generation of Apple TV is still in the books. This may just be in the same pipeline as the anticipated AirTags and the AirPods Studio. Those things are still pretty vague in terms of their launch. As for the next-generation Apple TV, Apple will most probably launch it in the future. The controller, on the other hand, it seems like a long shot. While the company has been pushing Apple Arcade, the current cloud gaming market is pretty competitive for an entry. Apple may just add controller apps on iPad and iPhones to give wireless controller-like functionality. Again, this is based on personal speculation. As for the existing leaks from appol leakz, it seems as the leaker was way of on his sources. Jon did retweet him but then, he is human after all and can be wrong as well, If Apple does plan on adding a controller to its lineup, it is not planned for any time soon. That is always the case with speculative deductions, they should always be taken with a grain of salt.
