The APK teardown of the latest version of the Bose Connect App has several mentions of a new Bose QuietComfort headset. The new headset is another purpose-specific variant of the Bose QC35 II. The teardown revealed the headset is currently codenamed ‘Tibbers’. It is important to note that the APK does have several recurring references but there is no confirmed existence of the new variant of the Bose QuietComfort QC35 II Gaming Headset.
APK Teardown Of Bose Connect App v12.0 Mentions ‘Tibbers’ Which Connects To “Bose QC35 II Gaming Headset:
The Bose Connect app is responsible for connecting a smartphone to Bose-branded devices and allows adjusting their settings. The Android app received an update today to version 12.0 via the Google Play Store. An app that merely helps to establish a secure connection with a headset might not be perceived as important, but the Bose QC35 II is one of the few third-party headsets that are deeply integrated with Google Assistant. Hence any update to the app can include references to some new functionalities or features. The app does have new features like Facebook Login support. However, the APK teardown reveals references to a new device codenamed “Tibbers,” which could be an indirect reference to League of Legends. While the mere name isn’t interesting, the codename is connected to quite a few strings that talk about connecting a “gaming microphone” to the Bose QC35 II headset. The news publication that conducted the APK teardown and analyzed the code found the following strings that mention the same:

Interestingly, these strings are connected to a product tour video. Incidentally, the APK also includes the video, which serves as a visual indicator that shows a microphone attachment connecting to a QC35 II headset. In other words, Bose appears to have clearly developed a “gaming” optimized microphone attachment that connects to the Bose QC35 II headset, essentially turning the peripheral into a high-quality gaming headset complete with the in-game chatting facility.

In other words, when a user connects the mystery Bose microphone attachment, the entire headset will only work when it is physically connected to any device. A deeper analysis of the APK further indicated that this device codenamed Tibbers is going to be branded as the “Bose QC35 II Gaming Headset.” This indicates two possibilities. Either Bose will offer the microphone as a separate attachment for the existing Bose QC35 II Headset or will put up a new version of Bose Qc35 II Gaming Headset for sale with the new gaming-focused attachment.
