Nvidia Reflex

Esports is the heart of the gaming industry nowadays. With competitive games like Valorant, CS GO, Fortnite, and CoD Warzone on the rise, the fate of any player is determined within milliseconds. Nvidia showed how their new Nvidia Reflex technology would aid in removing the latency associated with the GPUs. It streamlines the rendering process in the GPU and tries to achieve lower latency within the GPU. According to Nvidia, it will decrease the latency by almost 50%. It will be launched via a game-ready update this month. Unfortunately, only RTX graphics cards would be able to take advantage of the new technology. It is also worth mentioning that AMD already has a similar feature that works for all RDNA graphics cards.

Nvidia Broadcast

Currently, almost 20 million gamers share their games with their viewers via streaming. According to Nvidia, most of the RTX graphics cards from the Turing generation are owned by the game streamers. Nvidia’s superior video encoder and decoder amplify the whole experience by making it better both in terms of visuals and performance. With Nvidia Broadcast, Nvidia is trying to make the lives of game streamers a bit easier.

Nvidia Ampere

Coming to one of the big announcements of today’s stream, the GeForce RTX 30 series of graphics cards will be based on the new Ampere architecture. The Ampere architecture not only increases the performance output of CUDA cores, but Tensor cores and RT cores are the ones that are getting the most out of the new architecture. According to Nvidia, the Ampere Tensor cores can deliver almost three times the performance of the Turing Tensor cores. On the other hand, the Ampere RT cores can now track twice the number of light rays compared to the Turing RT cores. The traditional rendering done via CUDA cores is also twice as fast now. These are not only possible due to the generational leap, but Nvidia’s expertise in AI and deep learning also has a role in it too. According to Nvidia, AI will make ray tracing more accessible. Nvidia is using DLSS to complement Ray Traced rendering. It will render the reflections, shadows, and ambient occlusion at a lower resolution and then use DLSS to amp up the resolution with minimal to no loss of quality and performance.

The RTX 3070

This is the all-new refreshed version of the RTX 2070 from previous years. This is just a mid-tier model between the usual ones. People either go for cards that are entry-level into gaming or completely high-end ones. This time around the NVIDIA has tried hard to give the best performance to the buck to its users. This is quite reminiscent of the recent 1660Ti which offered awesome performance for the price. Now, according to the stats given by the company, this would be more powerful than the current flagship from the company: the NVIDIA 2080Ti. This is the tagline the company has gone for. It offers greater performance with the help of the latest Ampere architecture. This gives it a major boost over the Turing architecture. What this means is that the 3070 would offer 20 Shader – Teraflops, 40 RT – Teraflops and 163 Tensor – Teraflops. This would have 8GB of GDDR6 memory, slower than the GDDR6X found in the upper-tier models. The best part, all this performance in the affordable price of $499.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080

Probably the biggest announcement from today’s stream was the RTX 3080 graphics card. There is the ultimate flagship RTX 3090, too, but for most people, RTX 3080 is the flagship GPU of the generation. It has the new and improved GDDR6X memory, 3rd gen Tensor cores, and 2nd gen RT cores. The design of the card is the same as the rumours have shown previously. Like its successor, it has a dual-fan design, but the configuration is changed so that the airflow is better overall. Nvidia’s CEO did not talk about the specifications of the graphics; however, he claimed that it is twice as fast as its predecessor. Moreover, it can do 4K 60FPS consistently. It is priced at $699, and availability starts from 17th September.

The RTX 3090

The final product at the event is the behemoth, the RTX 3090. This is the card that the company dubbed as the “BFGPU”. This should serve it well since it is related to the existing Titan lineup. These cards are usually fit for batch or heavy professional uses. They also give added performance to heavy tasks and this GPU offers just that. It is also cooler, due to the new fan design, making it more thermally stable than the Titan. Now, looking over the specs and we see the following screenshot from the presentation. Now, the best part about this GPU would be the support for 8K gaming with RTX enabled. They demonstrated it to veteran gamers to record their reaction and they were all pretty amazed. But all this performance, it does come at a cost though. The NVIDIA RTX 3090 comes in at $1499 and would be available starting September 24th.
