An AotS benchmark apparently proves just how powerful are the Ampere-based NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards. It is, however, important to note that a single point of data for the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080’s performance from a gaming title is certainly not a reliable indicator of performance. Moreover, it is quite likely that the benchmark might be relying on unoptimized drivers, and perhaps even faked.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 AotS 4K Performance Benchmark Claims Ampere GPU Is 27 Percent Better Than GeForce RTX 2080 Ti?

The GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card features 8704 CUDA cores and 10GB of GDDR6X 320-Bit memory. This means it has a 100 percent improvement in CUDA cores compared to the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti which features 4352 cores. Technically, this should translate to a little less than double the gaming performance over the previous generation. The slight dip in performance could be attributed to slightly lower clock speeds and increased thermal limiting. Still, with further optimizations, the gains could climb.

The Ampere-based GPU is working with Intel Core i9 9900K and manages to output just over 88 frames in 4K. The benchmark scores for the GeForce RTX 3080 is 8700. Needless to mention, these scores are in no way an indicator of the final performance of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. There are several missing parameters that could have offered some concrete evidence. The leaked AotS benchmark does not reveal the actual clock speeds of the RTX 3080. Moreover, some experts argue the alleged Aots benchmark could itself be a fake. It is quite possible the benchmarks could belong to an overlocked GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

While there’s certainly a big possibility that the Ampere-based graphics cards from NVIDIA are truly way better than the currently available GPUs, the AotS benchmark is in no way a confirmed indicator about the actual numbers. There have been a few leaks last week that claimed Lenovo was embedding a unique NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Graphics Card. But they were addressed quickly after Lenovo revised the listing page for the Lenovo Legion T7 pre-configured gaming computer. Simply put, it is strongly advised to wait for actual and persistent testing or thorough reviews of the Ampere-based NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics Cards.
