iPhone 12

The most notable upgrade in the iPhone 12 is arguably the display. It features the same 6.1-inch display, but this time around, Apple has shifted to a more respectable OLED display. Though Apple did not disclose the resolution of the display, it may still be the same, but with better contrast and brightness. Apple calls this display “Super Retina XDR,” and rightly so since it has the 2 million to 1 (2,000,000:1) contrast ratio and support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Apple’s new ceramic glass protects the screen. The company claims that it has 4x as much chance of surviving a drop as its predecessor, which is quite substantial, to say the least. The design of the phone has also been tweaked so that it’s lighter and more durable. The phone has a ‘boxy’ look that makes it more durable and stylish. The next major upgrade comes in the CPU department with the new A14 Bionic chip based on the new 5nm process. Apple already leads the industry with the A13 Bionic chip; the new processor enhances the lead to unprecedented heights. It features a hexacore CPU, quad-core GPU, and 16-core neural engine coupled with the new 5G antenna. Both iPhone 12 and 12 mini support 5G, especially Verizon’s new 5G Ultra Wideband that enhances the mmWave 5G and provides better coverage. Apple has also updated the camera hardware this year. The standard wide camera now features an F/1.6 aperture making it better in low-light sequences. Apple has also introduced smart HDR 3, which will significantly enhance the shadows in your photos. The 12MP ultrawide lens stays the same with better image quality and sharpness throughout. Lastly, the iPhone 12 starts at $799 while its mini version costs $100 less.

iPhone 12 Mini

The only difference between the regular iPhone 12 and its mini sibling is the screen size. Everything from the display technology to the ability to support mmWave 5G stays the same. These are the features that make Apple’s mid-range devices shine among a plethora of other devices. Lastly, the iPhone 12/mini is available in five different colors, including the product red, which isn’t what you are thinking; it’s just the color Red.
