Google has already confirmed the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro at the last Google I/O, but didn’t delve into many details. Since then there have been numerous leaks featuring both the devices, so lets get up to speed with that. Google will be using the next generation tensor chips on their upcoming smartphones. Both the phones will retain the elevated horizontal camera look on the back, but now the main camera and ultrawide camera will be bunched together. Further rumors also suggest that the Pixel 7 might feature the same camera hardware from last year, which likely won’t be a problem given Google relies more on software magic for good pictures. Some recent discovery in the Google camera app also suggests that both phones might feature 4K video recording using the front-facing camera. As for design differences, the Unbox Therapy video does a good job of comparing both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro to last year’s models. If we were to talk about key findings, the Pixel 7 Pro is almost the same size as the Pixel 6 Pro, but with slightly trimmed bezels. Although the display curve has been toned down on the Pixel 7 Pro from last year. The phone is also thinner and wider horizontally compared to the Pixel 6 Pro. The Pixel 7 on the other hand is likely aiming to be a compact phone, being notably shorter than last year’s Pixel 6. The phone also has a smaller chin compared to its predecessor. There’s also a difference in finish materials of both phones, where the Pixel 7 features a matte finish and the Pixel 7 Pro features a polished finish. Google hasn’t yet officially announced a release date for the next generation of Pixel devices. But according to well known leaker, Jon Prossor, the phones could be launched on October 13th, with pre-orders going live as early as October 6th.
