Well, using a Lure Module is much better than using Incense, and the following are the most significant reasons why:
Lure Modules give you more Pokémon than Incense
Unless you move at the speed of 12 KM/Hr while an Incense item is active, the item will only cause one Pokémon to spawn in your immediate vicinity every 5 minutes, totaling up to 5-6 Pokémon from the use of one Incense item. One of the most significant reasons why using a Lure Module is much better than using Incense is because the use of a single Lure Module can get you a total of 6-10 Pokémon (and sometimes even more!) over the course of 30 minutes, which is relatively more than what Incense has to offer, at least under normal conditions.
All players in the vicinity of the PokéStop can reap the benefits of a Lure Module
When you deploy a Lure Module at a PokéStop, you aren’t the only person who sees pink flower petals flying around the PokéStop on your map in the game – all of the other players in the area see it too, and if they come to the PokéStop, they will also have the opportunity to catch all of the wild Pokémon that the Lure Module brings to the PokéStop. All players in the vicinity of a PokéStop that has a Lure Module deployed to it can take advantage of its effects, unlike Incense which only benefits its user.
While your Lure Module is active, you can farm the PokéStop it is deployed at
Since you went through all the trouble of deploying a Lure Module at a PokéStop, it’s a pretty safe bet that you will be taking full advantage of it and won’t be leaving the vicinity of the PokéStop until the item’s effects wear off. That being the case, while you capture all of the wild Pokémon that are spawning at the PokéStop because of the Lure Module, you can also spin the photo disc at the PokéStop (and the photo discs at any PokéStops that are in extremely close proximity) every 5 minutes like clockwork, and you’ll be able to farm quite a few items out of the endeavor, making up for all of the Pokéballs (and Razz Berries) you spend capturing the Pokémon that the Lure Module attracted to the PokéStop.
